James Orpwood Mountaineering
Having lived in Scotland since 2002, James is a passionate and committed mountaineer and mountain biker. James also loves world travel and has trekked and climbed in Morocco, Nepal, Bolivia and Iceland, summiting peaks to 6000m+. Formerly a fisheries scientist, James changed career direction in order to pursue his passion for the outdoors full time. James lives with his wife in Aviemore in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
James is a full member of the Mountain Training Association (MTA), the nationally-recognised membership organisation for walking and mountain leaders, climbing instructors and coaches in the UK and Ireland. Full members hold nationally-recognised awards, have been subject to a rigorous training and assessment process, and undertake continued personal development to ensure their skills and experience are up to date. James holds the following awards:

- Rock Climbing Instructor (formerly Single Pitch Award)
- Climbing Wall Instructor (formerly Climbing Wall Award)
- Trail Cycle Leader (administered by British Cycling)
James also works as a Freelance Outdoor Instructor for a number of different providers and with a wide range of client groups.
