Booking and payment
Please contact us using the Enquiry Form, phone or email to discuss your requirements and to check availability. If you decide to proceed with a booking, you will be sent an invoice and a participation form, together with a full kit list.
If your booking is made more than 4 weeks before the activity is due to take place, payment of a non-refundable* deposit, equal to 25 % of the total cost, is required to confirm your booking. Payment of the balance, equal to 75 % of the total cost, is due 4 weeks before the activity is due to take place.

If your booking is made less than 4 weeks before the activity is due to take place, full payment is required at the time of booking.
Payment can be made by bank transfer (preferred) or by cheque. Payment details will be shown on your invoice.
Please complete and return your participation form to us as soon as you can after booking.
If booking on behalf of a group, each participant must complete and return a participation form (i.e. one participation form per person).
Participation forms for young people (those under the age of 18 at the time of the activity) should be completed by a parent or legally-appointed guardian.
If you need to cancel your booking, please contact us by email as soon as possible.
If you cancel up to 4 weeks before the activity is due to take place, a refund will be made, less the non-refundable deposit**. If you cancel less than 4 weeks before the activity is due to take place, no refund will be made***.

If we need to cancel your booking, you will be offered a full refund, or the opportunity to transfer your booking to an alternative and mutually agreeable date.
In the event of cancellation, by you or by us and for any reason whatsoever, under no circumstances are we liable for any additional costs (e.g. transport, accommodation) which you may have incurred. We strongly recommend that you take out appropriate insurance to cover this eventuality.
At all times, we will be following Government and industry rules and guidelines which may necessitate changes to plans at relatively short notice.
Until further notice, all monies paid to us are fully refundable.
If travel restrictions, local lockdowns, or adhering in any way to Government and industry rules and guidelines related to Coronavirus make fulfilment of your booking impossible, either by you or by us, we will offer you a full refund, or the opportunity to transfer your booking to an alternative and mutually agreeable date. This applies if:
- You/We or a member of your/our household need(s) to self-isolate
- You/We are unable to attend due to travel restrictions
- You/We become unable to attend because of changes to travel restrictions announced after your booking is made but before the activity is due to take place.
This list is not exhaustive, and a sensitive approach will be applied to any postponements or cancellations for Coronavirus-related reasons.
It remains the case that, in the event of cancellation, by you or by us and for any reason whatsoever, under no circumstances are we liable for any additional costs (e.g. transport, accommodation) which you may have incurred. We strongly recommend that you take out appropriate insurance to cover this eventuality.
By booking with us, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the Mountaineering Scotland Participation Statement:
Mountaineering Scotland recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
While your guide will make every effort to mitigate such risks, they cannot be removed entirely.
Your guide will be appropriately qualified, experienced and insured for the activity being undertaken. We strongly recommend that you take out appropriate personal insurance. This might include, but may not be limited to, personal accident, cancellation, third party liability, personal injury, or loss of personal property insurance. Insurance for “Adventure activities” such as those offered by us are often excluded from standard travel insurance policies. Please check the nature of the cover provided carefully to ensure it covers you for the proposed activities.
Amendments to plans
For your safety, it may be necessary to amend the plan for your activity, for example due to particularly adverse weather or snow conditions on the day. In such cases, we will always work with you in a constructive manner, aiming to give you the best possible experience by delivering a meaningful and rewarding day out. We will always strive to meet the objectives for the day, but cannot guarantee the completion of any particular route or climbing any particular summit on a given day.
You will be sent a detailed kit list at the time of booking. You are responsible for ensuring that you are appropriately attired and equipped for the activity being undertaken. The guide reserves the right to deny your participation if, in the guide’s opinion, allowing you to participate may jeopardise the safety of yourself or others.
During the activity, your guide may take photographs of you, intended for marketing and advertising (e.g. website, social media). Please let your guide know if you do not wish to have such photographs used for these purposes.
People under the age of 18 are welcome to participate in any of the activities offered, provided they are accompanied at all times by either a parent or legally-appointed guardian.
These Terms & Conditions form the basis of your contract with us and shall be governed by Scottish Law.
