Guided Winter Hill Walking
From December to April inclusive, I offer guided winter hill walking in the stunning Cairngorms National Park. You will be led by me, a locally-based (I live in Aviemore) and highly experienced Winter Mountain Leader.
When choosing a suitable objective for the day, a flexible approach is needed in winter. Even more so than at other times of the year, plans must not only take into account the weather on the day, but also the prevailing snow conditions and avalanche hazard. Munros which we regularly attempt in the Cairngorms during winter include Ben Macdui, Braeriach, Cairn Gorm, Sgor Gaoith and Bynack More. At other times, a short journey to the Munros of the Monadh Liath, Drumochter or Creag Meagaidh may be the order of the day. Of course, some days the weather dictates that smaller objectives may well be prudent, and I have in-depth local knowledge which enables me to offer rewarding days out in a multitude of conditions.
